The Tensas Parish Police Jury met this day in regular session convened. There were present the following officers and members to-wit:

Members: Billy Joe Arceneaux, Robert Clark, Bill Sid Crigler, Clay Foster, Terrence South, and Alex Watson.

Guest present were: Todd Merriett, Thelma Bradford, and Kiley Sanders
There were no comments from the general public regarding the agenda item(s).
Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Billy Joe Arceneaux, it was unanimously agreed to approve the agenda as printed. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Terrence South, it was unanimously agreed to approve the minutes for the Regular Meeting held on January 23, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Alex Watson, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve payment of bills as authorized by the Finance Committee. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Billy Joe Arceneaux, it was unanimously agreed to approve the Budget vs Actual Financial Statements for the period ending January 31, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Presidents Report:
Bubba Rushing updated the Jury on the Recreation Grant for the Recreation Building.
Secretary/Treasurer Report:
Pauline Doyle updated the Jury on the Recreation Parks. Construction bids will run in the Gazette on February 21, 28, and March 6. Bids will be received on the 21st and opened at 4:00 P.M.
Parish Superintendent Report:
Todd Merriett gave a report on what has been done on the parish roads, landfill, Courthouse, airport and with the OEP office delivering water to Waterproof.
OEP Director Report:
Kiley Sanders gave a progress report on what he has been doing to get certified and bring his office up to date with the IPAWS system, Rave system, Hazard Mitigation, and Starlink system.
Upon a motion by Terrence South, duly seconded by Robert Clark, it was agreed to approve adding the Economic Development Committee to Item 5-A of the Tensas Meat Market Lease for 2024. Roll call vote taken: Billy Joe Arceneaux-no, Robert Clark-yes, Bill Crigler-no, Clay Foster-yes, Terrence South-yes, Alex Watson-yes. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Terrence South, it was agreed to approve the lease agreement with Justin Currington for the Tensas Meat Market for 2024 and give Bubba Rushing authority to execute said document and Resolution. Roll call vote taken: Billy Joe Arceneaux-yes, Robert Clark-yes, Bill Crigler-yes, Clay Foster-yes, Terrence South-yes, Alex Watson-yes. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Terrence South, duly seconded by Billy Joe Arceneaux, it was unanimously agreed to approve a Resolution of Appreciation for Mr. Carl Olds for his service to the Tensas Parish Police Jury. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
WHEREAS, the Tensas Parish Police Jury adopted a Resolution of Acknowledgement for the family of Mr. Carl Frank Olds during their Regular Session held on the 13 day of February, 2024, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Carl Frank Olds faithfully served as District Six Juror from January 14, 2007 through January 13, 2016.
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom, called Mr. Carl Frank Olds to eternal rest on January 21, 2024,
LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Tensas Parish Police Jury go on record in proclaiming Mr. Carl Frank Olds services as outstanding virtues as District Six Juror in Tensas Parish, and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Body herewith expresses its admiration and appreciation for his faithful service to our parish, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the original of this Resolution is to be tendered to his family as an expression of the Tensas Parish Police Jury’s sincerest thankfulness, and
ALSO, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be made a permanent part of the archives of the Tensas Parish Police Jury by incorporating the same in the minutes of this meeting.
