The Tensas Council on Aging, Inc. is currently in the process of updating its membership files.
If you would like to become a member of the Council on Aging, please stop by the office located at 142 12th Street, St. Joseph, LA. and complete a membership application, or you may contact our office and one will be mailed to you.
A completed application must be on file at the Council on Aging office by May 22, 2024 in order for a member to participate in the Annual Meeting which is on Thursday, June 20, 2023 at 3:30 p.m.
The public is cordially invited.
You must be a parish resident to join and be interested in assisting senior citizens of Tensas Parish. It is also time to offer any suggestions for the improvement of your council.

VILLAGE OF NEWELLTON
REGULAR MEETING
MARCH 20, 2024
CALL TO ORDER: On March 20, 2024 at 5:30pm the board members met in regular session for their monthly town meeting. Those present were Mayor Timothy Turner, Patricia Washington, Jacquelin Hankins, Mattie Sampson and Deborah Parson. Ben Britton was absent. Also, present was Odessa Chase, Jackie Ford, Elijah Washington, Chief Desmond Ford, Knola Ransome, Leslie Bryan, Nicole Strong, John McTear, Carolyn Dunmore, Michael Hankins, Albert Jones Jr, Richard Harris, Iris Rollins, Delores Gentry, John Thomas, and Fannie Patterson.
PRAYER: There being a quorum present Jacquelin Hankins opened the meeting with a prayer at 5:32pm.
MINUTES: On a motion by Jacquelin Hankins seconded by Deborah Parson and unanimously carried the minutes were approved.
BILLS: On a motion by Mattie Sampson seconded by Jacquelin Hankins and unanimously carried the bills were approved for payment.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Knola Ransome shared concerns about dogs running loose throughout the community. John McTear shared multiple concerns about the Village of Newellton.
CASA GROUP: Two representatives from the CASA group shared information about what their program offers to board members and the citizens of Newellton.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: On a motion by Jacquelin Hankins seconded by Mattie Sampson and unanimously carried the board members went out of regular session into executive session. On a motion by Jacquelin Hankins seconded by Deborah Parson the board members went out of executive session back into regular session.
Action Taken: The board members reviewed their Financial Statements. On a motion by Jacquelin Hankins seconded by Mattie Sampson and unanimously carried the Financial Statements were accepted and approved.
ADJOURN: On a motion by Jacquelin Hankins seconded by Deborah Parson and unanimously carried the meeting was adjourned.

PUBLIC COMMENTS
Citizens expressed how proud they where of the movement that the Village of Newellton has made.
SOUTHERN SOUL FAMILY RESTAURANT ALCOHOL RENEWAL PERMIT: On a motion by Ben Britton seconded by Jacquelin Hankins and unanimously carried the alcohol renewal for Southern Soul Family Restaurant was approved.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: On a motion by Ben Britton seconded by Mattie Sampson and unanimously carried the board members went out of regular session into executive session. On a motion by Jacquelin Hankins seconded by Mattie Sampson the board members went out of executive session back into regular session.

Raymond Guin expressed his concerns about the limb pickup weekly.
C&M MOBILE BBQ & GRILL: On a motion by Deborah Parson seconded by Jacquelin Hankins and unanimously carried the new business application was approved for C&M Mobile BBQ & Grill.
MONTHLY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS: The Financial statement for the month of March 2024 was presented to the board members for review. On a motion by Jacquelin Hankins seconded by Deborah Parson and unanimously carried the financial statements where accepted and approved.
