2024-2025
In accordance with the Louisiana Local Government Budget Act, R.S. 39:1307, this notice is to inform the Public that the 2024-2025 Budgets of the Tensas Parish School Board will be available for inspection at the Tensas Parish School Board, Central Office, located at 512 Plank Rd., St. Joseph, LA as of August 22, 2024.
Further, a public hearing on these budgets shall be conducted at 6:00 pm, September 12, 2024, with the regular board meeting to immediately follow at the Tensas Parish School Board, Materials Center, St. Joseph, Louisiana.
Interested parties should contact Eryn Rimmey, Business Manager, for further information.

REGULAR MEETING
August 13, 2024

The Tensas Parish Police Jury met this day in regular session convened. There were present the following officers and members to-wit:
Bubba Rushing, President
Pauline Doyle, Secretary/Treasurer
Members: Billy Joe Arceneaux, Robert Clark, Bill Sid Crigler, Clay Foster, Terrence South, Bubba Rushing, and Alex Watson.
Todd Merriett, Invocation
Robert Clark, Pledge of Allegiance
Guest present were: Todd Merriett, Thelma Bradford, Kiley Sanders, Ola McWilliams, Ron Wilhite, and Khwaja Ali.
There were no comments from the general public regarding the agenda item(s).
Upon a motion by Billy Joe Arceneaux, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to table Items #14 and #17 on the agenda. Roll call vote taken: Billy Joe Arceneaux-yes, Robert Clark-yes, Bill Crigler-yes, Clay Foster-yes, Bubba Rushing-yes, Terrence South-yes, Alex Watson-yes. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Robert Clark, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve the agenda as printed with Items #14 and #17 tabled. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Terrence South, duly seconded by Clay Foster, it was unanimously agreed to approve the minutes for the Regular Meeting held on July 23, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Alex Watson, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve payment of bills as authorized by the Finance Committee. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Presidents Report: Bubba Rushing reported work being done on the ceiling tiles in the Tensas Parish Courtroom dealing with the mildew issue. ACA has been contacted about the air conditioning system not working properly.
Secretary/Treasurer Report: Pauline Doyle updated the Jury on the park construction in Newllton and St. Joseph.
Superintendents Report: Todd Merriett updated the Jury on ongoing Maintenance Unit work.
OEP Report: Kiley Sanders updated the Jury on Office of Homeland Security issues.
Upon a motion by Alex Watson, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve the Budget vs. Actual Financial Statements for the period ending July 31, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Billy Joe Arceneaux, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve the absence of Bubba Rushing from the Regular Meeting held on July 23, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Terrence South, it was unanimously agreed to approve passing an ordinance to merge voting precincts in Newellton and St. Joseph. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 2024-08-06
AN ORDINANCE OF THE TENSAS PARISH POLICE JURY MERGING THE FOLLOWING POLLING PRECINCTS:
Precincts 04, 04A, and 05 shall be merged to become Precinct 4 and will vote at the Tensas Parish Council on Aging facility, located at 1858 Highway 605, Newellton, LA 71357.
Precincts 4B and 05A shall be merged to become Precinct 4B and will vote at the Tensas Parish Council on Aging facility, located at 1858 Highway 605, Newellton, LA 71357.
Precincts 11B and 12 shall be merged to become Precinct 12 and will vote at the Tensas Parish Police Jury facility, located at 212 Hancock Street, St. Joseph, LA 71366.
WHEREAS, the Tensas Parish Police Jury is required to maintain polling places in the Parish,
WHEREAS, the above-mentioned Precincts have less than 300 voters, and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the TENSAS PARISH POLICE JURY, acting as the Governing Authority of Tensas Parish, Louisiana that the above-mentioned changes be made:
WHEREUPON, the foregoing Ordinance was duly adopted this 6th day of
August, 2024.

Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Terrence South, it was unanimously agreed to reject the bid for the 2006 Yukon and put it up for auction. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Terrence South, duly seconded by Robert Clark, it was unanimously agreed to approve sending a nuisance letter to Jamie Fortenberry. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Robert Clark, duly seconded by Terrence South, it was unanimously agreed to send the agenda for an upcoming meeting to the Jurors before the close of business on the Friday before a Tuesday meeting. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Terrence South, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to adjourn. Ayes have it. Motion carried.

The Tensas Parish Police Jury will hold their regular scheduled meeting on October 8, 2024 and October 22, 2024, at 10:00 am in the Tensas Parish Governmental Complex Building, Tensas Parish Police Jury Meeting Room, 212 Hancock Street, Saint Joseph, LA 71366.
