The Tensas Parish Police Jury met this day in regular session convened. There were present the following officers and members to-wit:

Members: Billy Joe Arceneaux, Robert Clark, Bill Sid Crigler, Clay Foster, Terrence South, and Alex Watson.

Guest present were: Todd Merriett, Thelman Bradford, Anthony Guice, and Kiley Sanders
There were no comments from the general public regarding the agenda item(s).
Upon a motion by Robert Clark, duly seconded by Clay Foster, it was unanimously agreed to approve the agenda as printed. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Robert Clark, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve the minutes for the Regular Meeting held on March 26, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Alex Watson, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve payment of bills as authorized by the Finance Committee. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Presidents Report:
Bubba Rushing informed the Jurors of a meeting with Julia Letlow about our needs for the Parish.
Secretary/Treasurer Report:
Pauline Doyle reported the Tensas Parish Health Unit is in need for a new air handler for the building. An Economic Development committee meeting is needed to discuss selling three acres in the Industrial Park to Donald Wyatt.
Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Billy Joe Arceneaux, it was unanimously agreed to approve the purchase of an Air Handler for the Health Unit. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Parish Superintendent Report:
Todd Merriett reported culvert replacement has been completed in Waterproof, Walker Road at Highway 65 intersection has been repaired, cleaning off ditch banks in St. Joseph has started, dam clean out at Ville Claire Road Bridge has been completed, and beaver dam cleanout is underway throughout the parish.
OEP Director Report:
Kiley Sanders reported no 911 calls of damage from recent storms had been received.
Upon a motion by Bill Crigler, duly seconded by Billy Joe Arceneaux, it was unanimously agreed to approve the Budget vs. Actual Financial Statements for the period ending March 31, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Billy Joe Arceneaux, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to approve the materials for the Tensas Parish Maintenance Unit. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Terrence South, duly seconded by Billy Joe Arceneaux, it was unanimously agreed to approve the absence of Bill Crigler and Alex Watson from the regular meeting held on March 26, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Terrence South, duly seconded by Alex Watson, it was unanimously agreed to allow the Jurors to attend the Legislature Day in Baton Rouge on May 1, 2024. Ayes have it. Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Billy Joe Arceneaux, duly seconded by Bill Crigler, it was unanimously agreed to adjourn the meeting. Ayes have it. Motion carried.

The Tensas Parish School Board met in a regular meeting at the Tensas Parish Material Center, St. Joseph, Louisiana, at 6:00 p.m., February 8, 2024, with President John L. Turner presiding and the following members present with a quorum:
Mrs. Knola Ransome, Mr. Joseph Tarver, and Mrs. Annice Miller
Absent: Mrs. Jennifer Burnside, Mr. George Matthews, and Mr. Esaw Turner
Superintendent Joyce M. Russ called the meeting to order. President Turner led an invocation, and Superintendent Russ led the Pledge of Allegiance.
On motion by Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Ransome, the Board approved the minutes from the regular board meeting held on January 18, 2024. Motion passed.
On motion by Mr. Tarver, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board approved the minutes and actions taken at the EFID Board meeting held on January 18, 2024. Motion passed.
The Board recognized the Tensas Parish School System’s Students of the Year.
Elementary Student of the Year – Hunter Walker, Tensas Elementary School
Middle School Student of the Year – Takiyah Smith, Tensas Jr. High School
High School Student of the Year – Ja’Maya Clark, Tensas High School
The Board then recognized the Tensas Parish School System’s Teachers of the Year.
Elementary Teacher of the Year – Cassandra Bass
Middle School Teacher of the Year – Jamie Plata
High School Teacher of the Year – Armand Swain
On motion by Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Ransome, the Board approved a resolution honoring the life of Mr. Caldwell A. Flood. Motion passed.
On motion by Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Ransome, the Board approved a resolution honoring the life of Mrs. Margaret McFarland Rollins. Motion passed.
On motion by Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Ransome, the Board approved a resolution honoring the life of Mrs. Mary Ann Hart Sadler. Motion passed.
On motion by Mr. Tarver, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board received the December financial statement and budget to actual update from Mrs. Eryn Rimmey, Business Manager. Motion passed.
Mrs. Ransome motioned, seconded by Mrs. Miller, to approve the 2024-25 school calendar. Motion passed.
Superintendent Russ made the following announcements:
We have made our final payment on the Jr. High wing at THS!
THS will play Delhi Charter tonight. Good Luck Panthers!
TES will have a Mardi Gras Ball on February 24th.
Offices and schools will be closed on February 19th .
We will have staff development on February 20th (no students)
The floor at NES is almost complete.

The Tensas Parish School Board met in a regular meeting at the Tensas Parish Material Center, St. Joseph, Louisiana, at 6:00 p.m., March 14, 2024, with President John L. Turner presiding and the following members present with a quorum:

President Turner called the meeting to order. Mr. Esaw Turner led an invocation, and Superintendent Joyce M. Russ led the Pledge of Allegiance.
On motion by Mr. Tarver, seconded by Mrs. Ransome, the Board approved the minutes from the regular board meeting held on February 8, 2024. Motion passed.
The Board recognized Mrs. Debbie Bottley as the Tensas Parish School System’s Bus Driver of the Year.
On motion by Mrs. Ransome, seconded by Mr. Tarver, the Board approved a differentiated compensation payment for teachers to be paid on April 15, 2024. This will be a one-time payment of $423.81. Motion passed.
On motion by Mrs. Miller, seconded by Mrs. Ransome, the Board approved “Spring Break” sales tax checks for all system employees. These will be paid on March 28, 2024. Certified personnel will receive $1,000 and support will receive $400. Motion passed.
On motion by Mr. Tarver, seconded by Mrs. Miller, the Board received the January financial statement and budget to actual update from Mrs. Eryn Rimmey, Business Manager. Motion passed.
Superintendent Russ made the following announcements:
I’d like to thank the Board Members and others for attending tonight’s meeting.
